When my wife and I took a vacation to Canada, we quickly found ourselves to be foreigners in a strange country. We discovered that we didn't look like, dress like, talk like, think like, or act like Canadians. We also measure distance in miles, where they measure distance in kilometers. We use gallons and they use liters. One really strange thing to us was that they take their dogs with them everywhere .... in their cars, walking down the street, and even in stores where permitted. Indeed, we were the foreigners.
The Bible says that we as Believers are foreigners to this world, and that we should not expect to or try to fit into the mold of the world. In fact, our lives should naturally stand out as being different. Peter wrote, "Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation" (I Peter 2:11-12).
If you find it hard to fit into this world, maybe,
God just wants you to make a difference in the world. If you would
