A broken heart may occur when other people set standards for us which we can not reach.  Our parents, our friends, our mates, our employers, and even sometimes preachers may all set unreasonable standards for us.

    A broken heart may occur when we set standards for other people, but they fail to reach our expectations for them.  The reality is that other people fail us, even those whom we thought would never fail us.

    A broken heart may occur when other people confront us with unduly harsh treatment.  There may be ridicule, nagging, gossip, jokes, or isolation.  These things hurt us.

    A broken heart may also occur as a result of a direct attack from the enemy.  Satan, our enemy, may bring calamity, disease, poverty, or other harassment.

    All of these may result in a broken heart where your heart just aches with pain.
