Have you seen a rainbow recently? After God send the flood
to destroy the earth in the day of Noah, God said, "I will establish my
covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by waters
of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth."
Then God gave Noah the rainbow as a token of the covenant agreement.
The rainbow is also reminder of God's promise to us today.
Just before writing this counseling brief, I stepped outside my
office to see a beautiful full rainbow. I had just been through an
intensive emotional healing session with an individual. The rainbow
reminded us not only that God would never again destroy the earth with
a flood, but that God's Word is always good. His promise to heal
emotional wounds today is just as good as the promise not to destroy the
earth again with a flood. His promises to bring prosperity and physical
healing are just as good as His promise to not to destroy the earth again
In fact, Paul wrote in II Corinthians 1:20 "For all the
promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God
by us." The word "yea" means "yes" and the word "amen" means
"so let it be." If you are holding to a promise in the Word,
you can also let the rainbow remind you of the faithfulness of God.
